For small home-care providers in England

Voice, written or video answers from your care applicants, before you book an interview

One link for all your applicants. They'd answer 3 to 5 short care questions on their phone, by voice, writing or video. You'd choose which ways to allow. You'd listen, read or watch when you have a minute, then decide who to call.

Free 30-day pilot when it's ready. No card needed.

Then £29 a month, flat: unlimited roles, up to 3 manager logins. Cancel any time.

Early design, not built yet. Names are made up.
What an applicant would see on their phone if you allow all three ways to answer.

How it would work

  1. Pick your questions, and how applicants can answer. Use a ready-made set of care questions or write your own. Allow any way (voice, writing or video), or only some, such as video only.
  2. Share one link in your job ad, WhatsApp or a text. Applicants would answer on their phone in the ways you allow: voice, writing or video. They wouldn't need an app or an account. There'd be no time limit, and they could redo an answer.
  3. You decide. You'd review each applicant and choose who to interview. No AI would score, rank or reject anyone.
Example questions (draft)
  • Why do you want to work in care?
  • Tell us about a time you helped someone who was having a hard day.
  • You arrive at a visit and nobody answers the door. What do you do?
  • Which days, times and areas can you work?

Our own wording, still in draft. You can change every question. Our sets will never ask about health or disability.

What it would look like

Rough drawings of the screens we plan to build: the applicant's phone screen is at the top of this page, and your list of applicants is below. They're not screenshots: nothing here works yet.

Early design, not built yet. Names are made up.
What you would see: everyone who has answered, ready when you have a minute. You'd choose how applicants can answer: any way, or only some (for example video only). Applicants could always ask you for another way.

Why we're building it

Care England reports care providers describing registered managers "spending two or three hours a day managing Indeed during periods of recruitment", and that interview no-show rates "can be as high as 65 percent in some cases".

We want a cheap, simple way to hear from every applicant first, without a full recruitment system. We haven't proved it helps yet. That's what the pilot is for.

This is new: you'd be one of the first providers to try it. We have no customers or reviews yet.

Who's behind it: I'm Oliver Blunden, a sole trader in Kent trading as Support Labs. Reply to any of our emails and you'll reach me.

What it will and won't do

  • A person decides, every time. No AI scoring, ranking or automatic rejection, and no face or voice analysis.
  • Fair to applicants: you'd choose which ways they can answer, there'd be no countdown timers, and every link would show a "Can't answer this way, or need an adjustment? Ask the employer for another way." line.
  • Applicant answers will be kept in the UK or EU, encrypted, and deleted automatically after 90 days (you can choose sooner).
  • Screening only. It doesn't do right-to-work, ID, DBS or reference checks. You still do those yourself.
  • We're not a recruitment agency: we don't find candidates for you.
  • Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Takes about 2 minutes. We'll email you before the pilot starts. No card needed.

How do you screen applicants now?
After the free pilot, would you pay £29 a month from 4 December 2026?

An honest "no" is just as useful to us. It doesn't stop you joining the pilot, and "yes" doesn't commit you to pay.

What happens next: we'll email you to confirm. Sign-ups close on 20 October, and if we build it, the free pilot starts on 4 November 2026. Prefer not to fill in a form? Just reply to our email with the role you're hiring for.

We use your details only to run the pilot and email you about it. See the privacy notice.

Questions

What does it cost?

The pilot is free for 30 days and needs no card. After that it's £29 a month, flat: unlimited roles and up to 3 manager logins. Cancel any time, no contract.

What happens after I sign up?

We'll email you to confirm. Sign-ups close on Tuesday 20 October 2026 (11:59pm UK time). Soon after, we'll tell you whether we're building it. If we are, we'll email you a start date and a short agreement before your pilot begins. If we aren't, we'll say so and delete your details by 20 January 2027.

Why not a WhatsApp voice note or Indeed's screener questions?

You can. The difference we're aiming for: every applicant's answers would be in one list. That's whichever job ad, text or WhatsApp message they came from, with the same questions for everyone. Applicants could answer by voice, writing or video (you'd choose which to allow), and nothing would be kept on a manager's own phone. Answers would be deleted automatically after 90 days (or sooner if you choose). It wouldn't score or rank anyone: you decide.

Do my applicants need an app or an account?

No. They'd open a link on their phone and answer in the ways you allow: voice, writing or video. They could redo an answer, and there'd be no countdown timer.

Can I ask for video answers only?

Yes. You'd choose: any way (voice, writing or video), or only the ways you pick, such as video only. Every link would still show "Can't answer this way, or need an adjustment? Ask the employer for another way.", so anyone who can't record a video can ask you for another way, and you'd agree to offer one (see the pilot terms). A person, not the tool, always decides.

Does it use AI to judge applicants?

No. Nothing scores, ranks or rejects applicants. You review every applicant and decide.

Where is applicant data kept, and for how long?

Once it's built: in the UK or EU, encrypted, and deleted automatically after 90 days (you can choose sooner). You'd stay in charge of your applicants' data (you're the "controller"). We'd handle it for you under a written data processing agreement. Nothing is collected from applicants during this sign-up stage.

Will this make us CQC compliant?

No. It's a screening tool, not a compliance tool. It doesn't replace your own recruitment checks (right to work, DBS, references). We're not linked to the CQC.

How do I stop emails or delete my details?

Reply "no" or "stop" to any email, or email sales@supportlabs.co.uk. We'll stop the same day and delete your details on request.
